Health Care Assistant Jobs in Auckland: As a member of the unregulated health profession, the Health Care Assistant (HCA) must always work under the supervision and/or delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN). The HCA position is task-specific and has clearly defined boundaries.
When the work does not involve professional nursing knowledge, judgment, or ability, the RN may delegate portions of patient/client care to HCAs. When necessary, the HCA must seek assistance and supervision. Service activities or jobs that contribute to the service function and delivery may also be assigned to the HCA.

Specific training will be offered to ensure that the HCA has the necessary abilities to meet the employers and service requirements.
In an annual performance appraisal with the management, the HCA gives and receives comments on their performance.
The NZ Nurses Organisation (NZNO) Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (MECA) includes recognition of increasing levels of skill/knowledge. There are two levels known as ‘Merit Steps’. Steps One and Two provide a monetary reward for successfully completing a pre-determined set of conditions. HCAs may apply for Merit Step One or Step Two based on their degree of competence/knowledge. The Merit Step requirements are presented in the following section of this Role Description, which describes HCA accountabilities in five categories.
The Wellington and Kenepuru Outpatients Service supports the delivery of specialist outpatient clinics at Wellington and Kenepuru hospitals. Specialist consultant clinics with registrar support, allied health clinics, nurse-led clinics, and technician clinics are all available.
The service manages clinics actively to maximize their use and guarantees that specialist nursing and clerical personnel are used efficiently to improve patient care.
